Smile & Move™ Tips.
Use the tips below to inspire a Smile & Move™ culture in your office. (Contact us for even more tips and ideas on how to bring Smile & Move™ into your office or upcoming meeting.)
- Have a copy of the Smile & Move™ book waiting on your team's desks when they arrive at work Monday morning to set a new tone around the office.
- Arrive at work 10 minutes early every day, and encourage your team to do the same. By the end of the year, that works out to around 40 extra hours (a typical work week) you’ve all invested in serving others.
- Print out Smile & Move™ mini posters and hang them where everyone can see them—in the kitchen, by the water cooler, in the conference room.
- Express your gratitude in a meaningful way when your team members do great work. If you typically say "thanks" by email, take a moment to call the person, or stop by his or her desk to say thank you.
- License the Smile & Move™ logo for use on your internal organizational material. Let it serve as a powerful reminder to your people.
- Smile as you record your outgoing voicemail message, and encourage your team to do the same. The people on the other end of the line will pick up on the pleasantness in your voices.
- Greet interruptions from team members and colleagues with a smile. It's important that they feel comfortable coming to you when they need something.
- Make Smile & Move™ a theme for an upcoming national or regional event. Use the development resources and other development material.
- Hand out Smile & Move™ books at tradeshows to encourage people to engage with you and your team. Let them know you'll Smile & Move™ for them.
- Avoid personal gossip in the office, and encourage your team to do the same. Strike an upbeat tone and help people focus on one another’s accomplishments.
- Provide Smile & Move™ books and decals to your customers, letting them know they can hold you and your team accountable as Smile & Movers.
- Make it a habit to finish projects a day early if possible, and make it an expectation for your team, too.
- Encourage everyone in the office to take just a few extra moments to pre-sweat the details (anticipating questions or concerns, or contributing just a little more effort) before sending an email, completing a task, or turning in an assignment.
- License Smile & Move™ material and create a private-label version for your whole company’s team. Include a foreword by your CEO.
